My name is Alex Rodriguez. I'm a professional musician and trumpet player. I was born in Santiago de Cuba City in Cuba. I started my musical studies at the age of 10 at the Elemental Music School in my hometown. I studied there for 4 years and later on in 1991 I’ve attended studies at the Esteban Salas Conservatory. In both schools I did take part in numerous auditions and concourses.
In June 1995 I graduated successfully from the Conservatory. After that, I served as a musician in the army for about 3 and the half years.
After my service at the army I went to work as a trumpet teacher at the Conservatory. I resigned after 1 month and left to the west of the country to join a 7 piece band that was working at Club Med Hotel in Varadero city, where I worked for about a year and a half. There I developed my skills a soloist which was mine my main roll back in the military band.
In 2001 I moved to Holland. A year later I decided to study jazz at the Rotterdam’s Conservatory where I graduated in 2008. During my studies at the Conservatory I took part in numerous projects and master classes. Among the musicians I followed clinics where, Wayne Bergeron, Chuck Findley, Bert Joris, Andy Hardere, Arturo Sandoval, etc. Since I’ve been in Holland I’ve played with several bands. Bands like Pegasaya, Masalsa, Cuba Libre, Funkubine, Sepeteto Caney, Septeto Caoba, Septeto Café con Leche, La Solucion, la Ritmica, Sonora Awakati, Bocason, Pan con Timba, Randal Corsen en Tumababo, Nueva Manteca, Timbazo, CaboCuba Jazz, Estudiantina Emsemble, Contrabando and many others.
